10-Year-Old Indiana Boy Takes Tragic Life After Enduring Severe Bullying

A 10-year-old Indiana boy, Sammy Teusch, tragically died by suicide on May 5th after enduring severe bullying at Greenfield Intermediate School in Greenfield, Indiana. According to his family, Sammy had been subjected to both emotional and physical bullying, which culminated in last week's incidents on the school bus and in a school bathroom, as reported by FOX 59.

Sammy's heartbroken father, Sam, expressed his pain and frustration, stating, "How could God take my kid from here? Of course that was going through my head. God didn’t take my kid; hate did."

A GoFundMe page created by Sammy's family described him as a remarkable child, full of intelligence, humor, charm, and empathy. "He brightened the lives of anyone he encountered and was the life of the ‘party’," the description reads. "I know my baby brother didn't deserve this. A kid with so much love and so much light gone too soon."

The circumstances surrounding Sammy's death are still under investigation by the Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation and the Greenfield Police Department. The school district released a statement expressing their deepest condolences and stating that Sammy had been a student at Greenfield-Central for the last year and a half, completing third grade at Weston Elementary School in 2023 and attending fourth grade at Greenfield Intermediate School in the current school year.

Greenfield Police Chief Brian Hartman cautioned the community against spreading rumors, particularly those involving children. He emphasized that investigations rely on interviewing individuals who may be involved to discern truth from rumors, but due to the involvement of children, certain details cannot be publicly disclosed.

Hartman urged the community to engage in open dialogue about bullying and encourage victims to speak up to trusted adults or authorities. "If your child is being bullied, speak up about it," he said. "Give your children the confidence to tell a teacher, school counselor, principal, parent, or other trusted adult. If the bullying continues, continue to tell someone. If they don't get relief from that person, tell someone else, but please make sure they are speaking up for themselves."
