The Denver Nuggets have faced a series of challenges during the second round of the NBA playoffs, particularly against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After losing the first two games in the Western Conference semifinals, the Nuggets decided to address the situation with a series of players-only dinners. The strategy has proven successful, with the Nuggets winning three consecutive games.

However, one player has been noticeably absent from these team gatherings: Aaron Gordon. The forward recently spoke out about his exclusion, expressing an understanding of the team's decision.

"DJ, y'all going to the team dinner?" Gordon inquired of teammate DeAndre Jordan after the Nuggets' Game 5 victory. Jordan, who organizes the dinners, responded, "Yeah — not you though. We'll see you next round (of the playoffs). Sorry, dawg. We'll bring you some takeout though."

Gordon's response was insightful and empathetic. "I understand," he said. "I understand."

Gordon explained the rationale behind his exclusion: "The first team dinner was at a steakhouse in Minneapolis and was considered an opportunity for the team to bond after a disappointing start against the Timberwolves." Gordon missed the dinner after Game 2, choosing to engage in some retail therapy.

"I bought some three-wheel cars for my family," Gordon explained. "A little retail therapy. They're called Vanderhalls. They're really dope. I went in looking to buy just one. But generosity, and just having a little bit of fun, helped."

Gordon emphasized that he supported the team's decision to exclude him from the dinners. "I completely understand why," he said. "We're not on the same page right now. But they felt like they needed to do something to shake things up, and I respect that."

Despite his exclusion, Gordon maintains a positive attitude. "I'm not going to let it affect me," he said. "I'm going to support my team in any way I can. We're all in this together."

The Nuggets' players-only dinners have been a successful strategy, helping the team to regain momentum in the series. While Gordon has been excluded from these gatherings, he understands the rationale and remains committed to supporting his team. His positive attitude and willingness to embrace his situation are a testament to his character and leadership qualities.
