Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has slammed the political establishment, calling it a "sham" and questioning the integrity of the electoral process. Rodgers, who backed independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the 2024 presidential election, expressed frustration over the lack of opportunities for third-party candidates to participate in debates and gain ballot access.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has launched a scathing attack on the American political system, calling it a "sham" and lamenting the lack of opportunities for third-party candidates.

During an appearance on the "Pardon My Take" podcast, Rodgers elaborated on his political views, which have drawn attention since he backed independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. earlier this year.

"Politics, I've said from the beginning, is an absolute sham," Rodgers stated. "If we've seen anything, whether what they did to Bernie Sanders in 2016, that we saw in the (John) Podesta emails, or the fact that nothing really ever changes … all they talk about is what they're gonna do, and then life doesn't actually get better for any of us – whether it's a Republican or a Democrat."

Rodgers criticized the two-party system, arguing that it stifles political competition and prevents alternative candidates from gaining traction. He specifically cited the obstacles faced by third-party candidates in securing ballot access, which he characterized as "a f---ing joke."

"We have Bobby [Kennedy], who doesn't even get a chance to be in the debates," Rodgers said. "If you knew the insides of how ridiculous it is for a third-party candidate to get on the ballots in 50 states – it's a f---ing sham."

Rodgers also criticized the inability of third-party candidates to participate in presidential debates, which he argued marginalizes their voices and undermines the electoral process.

"It's certain colors in some states. There's certain people you gotta submit it to in other states. It's a certain amount of votes in certain states. It's a f---ing joke," he said.

Rodgers had previously been considered as a potential running mate for Kennedy, who ultimately chose Nicole Shanahan as his vice presidential pick. Rodgers admitted that he had considered accepting the nomination but "just kept on living [his] life."

Rodgers' political comments have sparked controversy, with some accusing him of being out of touch or uninformed. However, he has defended his right to express his views, saying that he is "not afraid" to question the status quo.

"I think it's important for people to know that there's a lot of other people that are like-minded, and we're not going to be silenced," Rodgers said. "We're not going to be afraid to speak out against the sham political system."

Rodgers' remarks have resonated with some Americans who share his frustration with the political establishment and the perceived lack of viable third-party options. However, they have also drawn criticism from those who believe that Rodgers is oversimplifying complex issues and engaging in divisive rhetoric.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, it remains to be seen whether Rodgers' political activism will have any impact on the race. However, his comments have undoubtedly injected controversy into the campaign and ignited a discussion about the state of American politics.
