Since the shooting unfolded around 6 p.m. on September 7, law enforcement officials have relentlessly searched the rugged, hilly area of southeastern Kentucky for Couch.

During the search, officers recovered an AR-15 rifle and a small silver-colored SUV registered to Couch.

The discovery of the body comes just one day after Governor Andy Beshear, state police, and other officials announced that they would be shifting resources into the community to continue the search for Couch.

The incident has sparked concern and fear among residents in the area, who have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. KSP has increased patrols in the vicinity of the shooting and is working closely with local law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the community.

Governor Beshear and other state officials have praised the efforts of law enforcement and expressed their condolences to the victims of the shooting. They have also urged residents to cooperate with the investigation and to provide any information that could help bring Couch to justice.

As the investigation continues, KSP urges the public to exercise caution and to avoid contact with Couch if they encounter him. Anyone who sees Couch should immediately call 911 or the KSP hotline at 1-800-222-5555.
