Adam Montgomery, the New Hampshire father who beat his 7-year-old daughter, Harmony, to death and hid her body for over two years, has been sentenced to 45 years to life in prison. Montgomery was also convicted of witness tampering, falsifying evidence, abuse of a corpse, and second-degree assault.
A New Hampshire father found guilty of brutally killing his daughter has received a lengthy sentence. Adam Montgomery, 33, was sentenced Thursday to 45 years to life in prison for the second-degree murder of 7-year-old Harmony Montgomery.
Montgomery was also convicted of witness tampering, falsifying physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and second-degree assault.
Harmony's disappearance was reported in December 2021, but authorities believe she was murdered two years prior, on December 7, 2019.
Prosecutors alleged that Montgomery beat Harmony in the head with a closed fist after she soiled herself in her sleep. The horrific beating resulted in her death.
After killing his daughter, Montgomery allegedly concealed her body in a duffle bag and disposed of her remains outside Boston weeks later.
During the trial, Montgomery's estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, testified that her husband admitted to her that he "really hurt" Harmony.
Kayla Montgomery also stated that she saw her husband drag a large plastic bag out of the apartment after Harmony's disappearance.
In addition to the murder conviction, Montgomery was found guilty of several other charges related to Harmony's death.
These charges included tampering with physical evidence for allegedly disposing of Harmony's body and witness tampering for trying to influence Kayla Montgomery's testimony.
The abuse of a corpse charge stemmed from Montgomery's actions in concealing and disposing of his daughter's remains.
The second-degree assault conviction was for an unrelated incident involving another child.
Harmony's tragic death has shocked the community and highlighted the importance of protecting children from abuse.
Her story serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the need for vigilance in preventing and reporting child abuse.
Montgomery's sentence sends a clear message that violence against children will not be tolerated and that those responsible will be held accountable.
Harmony's legacy will live on through the efforts of those dedicated to preventing and combating child abuse.
