Among the warrants were 39 counts of issuing a worthless check and 49 counts of failing to appear for issuing a worthless check, according to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office officials.
Cartee had been on the run since 2006 when she failed to appear for a court hearing related to the charges. She had been living in the Decatur Metropolitan area, about 40 miles from Huntsville, Alabama.

Authorities received a tip about Cartee's whereabouts and arrested her at a residence in Trinity. She was booked into the Morgan County Jail, where she is being held on a $133,900 bond.
The Morgan County Sheriff's Office said that Cartee had been on the run for so long because she had been using aliases and moving frequently.

"She was very good at evading law enforcement," said Morgan County Sheriff Ron Puckett. "She was using different names and moving around a lot."
Puckett said that Cartee's arrest is a reminder that law enforcement never gives up on finding fugitives.
"We never stop looking for fugitives," Puckett said. "We will find you, and you will be held accountable for your crimes."
Cartee's arrest is a victory for the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the community. It shows that even after 18 years, law enforcement will not give up on finding fugitives and bringing them to justice.
