A passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight is suing Boeing after the plane's door blew out mid-flight, causing him to lose his shoes and phone. The lawsuit alleges that Boeing put passengers' lives in danger.

Cuong Tran, a passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight from Nashville to Seattle, is suing Boeing after the plane's door blew out mid-flight. The incident occurred on July 20, 2023, and caused Tran to lose his shoes and phone.

According to the lawsuit, the Boeing 737-900ER aircraft was flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet when the door on the left side of the plane blew out. The force of the wind caused Tran to be pulled out of his seat and dragged towards the opening.

Tran's attorney, Timothy Loranger, said that his client was "lucky to be alive." He said that the incident could have been much worse if the plane had been flying at a higher altitude or if Tran had been sitting closer to the door.

The lawsuit alleges that Boeing was negligent in the design and manufacture of the plane's door. The lawsuit also alleges that Boeing knew or should have known about the potential for the door to blow out and failed to warn passengers of the risk.

Boeing has not yet commented on the lawsuit.

The incident on Alaska Airlines Flight 369 is the latest in a series of incidents involving Boeing 737 aircraft. In 2018, two Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes crashed within months of each other, killing 346 people. The crashes were caused by a faulty flight control system that Boeing had installed on the planes.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has since ordered Boeing to make changes to the 737 MAX 8. The FAA has also ordered airlines to inspect all Boeing 737 NG aircraft, which includes the 737-900ER that was involved in the Alaska Airlines incident.

The FAA is investigating the incident on Alaska Airlines Flight 369. The investigation is expected to take several months.

In the meantime, Tran is suing Boeing for damages. He is seeking compensation for his injuries, lost wages, and emotional distress.

The lawsuit is a reminder of the risks associated with flying. Even though airplanes are one of the safest forms of transportation, accidents can still happen. It is important to be aware of the risks and to take precautions to protect yourself in the event of an accident.
