"The View" co-host Ana Navarro unleashed a fiery tirade on Senator Marco Rubio on Monday for comparing Donald Trump's New York criminal trial to the show trials that took place in Cuba after Fidel Castro took over the country. Navarro accused Rubio of exploiting the suffering of Cubans for his own political gain, stating, "How dare you use their name in vain so that you can suck up to this man."

Rubio, a Republican senator from Florida, had compared the Trump trial to the Cuban trials during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. He characterized the Trump trial as a "quintessential show trial," claiming that it was an attempt to influence an election, unlike the trials in communist Cuba that "led to executions."

Navarro's outrage stemmed from Rubio's insensitivity and historical distortion. She emphasized the appalling human toll of the Cuban trials, where thousands of Cubans were summarily executed or died in extrajudicial hearings. She accused Rubio of using the victims' memories as political fodder to curry favor with Trump, who is considering a presidential run in 2024.

"Don't you dare use the name of these people who died protecting freedom and compare our U.S. judicial system to what happens in Cuba, what happens in Nicaragua, what happens in Venezuela," Navarro exclaimed.

Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg shared her personal experiences with Cubans who expressed deep fear of communism and its potential to emerge in the United States. She questioned how certain individuals could fail to recognize the potential dangers posed by figures like Trump, who have exhibited authoritarian tendencies.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, another co-host, offered a glimmer of hope by citing a poll suggesting that a criminal conviction could potentially harm Trump's chances in a general election. She emphasized the presence of a "silent minority" within the GOP who oppose Trump's candidacy.

Trump was found guilty on Thursday of 34 counts of falsifying business records. He responded to the verdict by vowing revenge through his future success and alleging that the charges were politically motivated. He also claimed that the Republican Party remained united behind him, viewing the trial as an attack on their party.

Navarro's fierce denunciation of Rubio's comments resonated with many viewers, who expressed support for her defense of Cuban victims and her condemnation of Trump's authoritarianism. Her passionate intervention highlighted the ongoing battle against historical distortion and the dangers of equating legitimate legal proceedings with repressive regimes.
