Jeremian Estel Blair, 19, of Arizona, is accused of premeditated murder after he allegedly shot his parents in their home, stating that he had been "upset over his upbringing." Blair reportedly planned the attack for years and expressed disappointment that his parents survived.
Jeremian Estel Blair, a 19-year-old Arizona man, faces two counts of first-degree premeditated murder for allegedly shooting his parents in their home on May 13. According to court documents, Blair admitted to planning the attack for years, stating that he was "upset over his upbringing."
Blair, who is currently being held on a $750,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Maricopa County Jail on May 22.
According to the Chandler Police incident report obtained by Fox 10 Phoenix, Blair's mother called 911 around 5:42 a.m. on Monday, reporting that she and her husband had been shot by their son. Officers arrived to find Blair unarmed and waiting for them in the driveway.
Both parents were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, with one requiring surgery. Blair promptly confessed to shooting his parents with his 9mm handgun, which he had hidden in his bedroom closet.
He told the police that he had been planning to kill his parents for years and had considered various methods before deciding on a firearm as the most effective. Blair expressed dissatisfaction that his parents survived the attack.
"Defendant showed remorse for the fact that his parents will live," court documents state. "Defendant knew [his] actions [were] wrong, but still attempted to shoot and kill his parents."
Blair reportedly set up a video camera in the kitchen around 1 a.m. and waited for his parents to get ready for work. When his father came down the stairs, Blair allegedly told him, "I knew this day was coming," before firing, striking his father in the forearm.
As his mother came down the stairs upon hearing the commotion, Blair allegedly shot her in the chest.
In a separate incident, 19-year-old Edward Furneaux Watson was arrested in connection with the murder-for-hire slaying of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan. Watson allegedly wished the hitman "good luck!" before the killing.
In another case, a man was found dead in Grand Canyon National Park after traveling down the Colorado River with his dog. The discovery occurred near the Havasupai Gardens, where the man's body was found partially submerged in the water.
The Arizona man's alleged shooting of his parents after years of planning serves as a chilling reminder of the potential consequences of violence and unresolved conflicts. As the investigation into Blair's motives continues, the search for understanding and preventing such tragedies remains a paramount concern.
