A student at Arizona State University was allegedly stabbed twice in a classroom by a fellow student in a seemingly random attack. The suspect, 19-year-old Kaci Lenise-Charlie Sloan, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and disorderly conduct with a weapon.
A seemingly unprovoked stabbing attack in a classroom at Arizona State University (ASU) on Monday has left a student injured and the campus community in shock.
Kaci Lenise-Charlie Sloan, a 19-year-old student, is accused of stabbing fellow student Mara Daffron multiple times during an early morning class. Daffron was reportedly taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, Sloan allegedly got up from her desk and ran at Daffron as she entered the classroom, stabbing her several times. A witness intervened and apprehended Sloan, possibly saving Daffron's life. Approximately 13 witnesses, including a professor, were present during the incident.
Investigators found a handwritten note inside Sloan's backpack that apparently referenced an act she was "about to commit," but it did not specify the nature of her intentions. In an interview with detectives, Sloan admitted that she came to class intending to harm someone and had been planning the attack since the night before. She reportedly chose Daffron as an "easier target" than another person she had contemplated attacking.

ASU Police are continuing their investigation, and the campus community is rallying around Daffron and her family. Counseling support is available to all students and staff.
