According to the Rochester Police Department, 19-year-olds Sulamain Hawkins and Anastasia Weaver left their baby, Sulamain Hawkins Jr., alone in the attic with the dogs on August 3rd. Upon returning to check on the baby, they discovered he had been attacked by at least one of the dogs.

The baby was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation involving police, child protective services, and the Monroe County district attorney's office ensued.

Hawkins and Weaver were arrested on Wednesday and arraigned on Thursday on manslaughter charges. They are scheduled to reappear in court on Tuesday.
