According to a source who spoke to People magazine, Affleck exhibited "giant mood swings" during the marriage, which oscillated between "being incredibly happy and warm – the best light that emanated from him" to expressing "the deepest, darkest behavior."

The source further claimed that Affleck's alleged mood swings were a "message to the press," yet he also "participated" in public events.

In May 2023, less than a year after the couple's wedding, paparazzi captured a tense moment between Affleck and Lopez in Santa Monica. In video obtained by Fox News Digital, Affleck can be seen dramatically shutting the door on Lopez as she enters their car.

As he approaches the driver's side, he can be heard telling the paparazzi, "I think you got it."

Two months before their listed date of separation, Affleck accompanied Lopez to the Grammy Awards, where cameras caught another awkward moment between the two that went viral online. Affleck appeared to whisper something to Lopez that she didn't like, prompting her to gently slap him on the chest. Moments later, they realized the camera was rolling and that host Trevor Noah was speaking.

Affleck later explained the incident in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying it was a "husband-and-wife thing."

Despite their public appearances, the source claimed that the reunited couple was struggling to make their relationship work.

For mega-stars with extravagant lifestyles, the difficulty is even greater," Laurent said.

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, citing "irreconcilable differences." According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, she did so without a lawyer and listed April 26 as the date of separation.

Representatives for both Affleck and Lopez have declined to comment on the divorce.
