The United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) is a heavy favorite against Bolivia in their Copa América opener on Sunday. While the Americans are not considered among the elite nations in the world, they sit 11th in FIFA's rankings compared to Bolivia's 84th spot. However, bettors are still hesitant to bet on the USMNT due to the massive price of -550.

BetMGM trading manager and soccer aficionado Seamus Magee has noticed the slow betting activity, primarily due to the price on USA. However, he expects action to pick up before Sunday's 6 p.m. ET kickoff on FOX.

The moneyline odds have not moved an inch, with the USA remaining at -550, Bolivia at a hefty +1450 underdog, and Draw at +600. If Bolivia pulled off an upset, a $100 bet would pocket $1,450 in profit, while a $100 bet on Draw would profit $600.

Magee anticipates that bettors will seek out more valuable markets, particularly prop bets, to back the USMNT. Team USA -1.5 goals is priced at -175, meaning a $175 bet would profit $100 if the American side wins by two or more goals. Team USA -2.5 at +145 is an even better value if you foresee a USMNT runaway. A $100 wager would profit $145 if the USMNT wins by three or more goals.

Another way to find value is by wagering on which players find the back of the net. Team USA's Haji Wright and Folarin Balogun are the +320 co-favorites to score the match's first goal. A $100 bet on Wright to score first would potentially land a nice $320 profit. Christian Pulisic is also a +360 favorite.

The total of 2.5 goals has a bit of a premium on the Over at -165, while the Under is +115. It would take a $165 bet on the Over to win $100, provided the match ends with at least three goals, while a $100 bet on the Under would win $115.

While the USA is not among the favorites to win the Copa América, a +1200 price tag to lift the trophy offers value. A $100 bet would profit $1,200 if the Americans pull off the upset. However, the home team likely needs to reach the semifinals at a minimum to make the bet a success.

Team USA is +188 to make it to the Final Four, placing them sixth on BetMGM's Copa América oddsboard. A little better execution on both ends of the field could lead to a semifinal run for the USMNT.
