Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich claims the Biden campaign is feeling the heat as President Trump surges ahead in the polls.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has alleged that the Biden campaign is in a state of panic as President Trump gains momentum ahead of the general election. Gingrich made these remarks during an appearance on "The Ingraham Angle," expressing his belief that Trump's massive rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, and recent polling data have shaken the Biden camp.
"The Biden campaign is panicking," Gingrich stated. "They've seen the polling, they've seen Trump's massive rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, and they know they're in trouble."
Gingrich criticized the Biden campaign's reliance on money and advertising, arguing that these tactics will not sway voters who are struggling with the economy, rising inflation, and immigration concerns.
"Yeah, I don't care how many ads you buy," Gingrich said. "People go to the grocery store and realize that you're lying. They cannot convince the American people that this is working. They can't convince young people who can't afford to buy a house that this is working. They can't convince people who watch millions of illegals come across the border that this is working."
Gingrich pointed to Trump's acceptance of Biden's offer to debate him on television as a sign of Trump's confidence. "Trump's on offense now," Gingrich said. "Trump is gaining momentum. And I think Biden is going to try to goad him into an explosion at the debates."
Gingrich advised Trump to emulate former President Ronald Reagan's approach in his debates against President Jimmy Carter in 1980, emphasizing the importance of remaining calm and composed.
"Reagan was very effective at smiling, being very polite, but also very forceful in making his points," Gingrich said. "I think that's the model that Trump should follow."
Gingrich and Fox News host Laura Ingraham agreed that Biden will likely attempt to provoke Trump into an outburst during the debates. However, they cautioned Trump against falling into that trap.
"I think Trump should stay calm, stay focused, and make his points in a very concise and clear way," Ingraham said. "I don't think he needs to get into a shouting match with Biden."
The Biden campaign has not yet responded to Gingrich's claims. However, the campaign has recently expressed confidence in its ability to defeat Trump in the upcoming election.
