A Nevada attorney claims a Biden campaign staffer attempted to shut down his interview with a New York Times reporter after he criticized President Biden's mental acuity.

Following a Biden campaign event on June 28th featuring Vice President Kamala Harris, Stephen Stubbs, a First Amendment attorney from Henderson, Nevada, shared his encounter with a Biden campaign staffer who allegedly tried to end his interview with a New York Times reporter. Stubbs, a registered Democrat, attended the event with the intention of hearing Harris's response to concerns about Biden's mental sharpness.

Stubbs explained that he sat down outside the event to eat and found himself seated next to the chairwoman of the Democratic Party in Nevada. Shortly after, he began talking to Simon Levien, a New York Times politics fellow, and shared his concerns about Biden's performance in the CNN Presidential Debate the night before.

A Biden staffer, Clio Calvo-Platero, who was following Levien around, began recording their conversation. Stubbs said, "That in itself was kind of intimidating." He questioned why Biden couldn't articulate his daily presidential duties during the debate.

Stubbs expressed his belief that Biden should step down and allow Harris to fulfill the remainder of his term. At this point, Calvo-Platero intervened, stating, "I'm going to stop this right now. This is a Biden event. I'm sorry, but I'm going to stop this."

However, the New York Times reporter, Levien, refused to halt the interview. Stubbs described Calvo-Platero's demeanor as hostile, saying she gave him "daggers" with her eyes.

Stubbs, who voted third-party in the 2020 election due to dissatisfaction with both Trump and Biden, expressed shock at Calvo-Platero's behavior. He believes Biden is not receiving feedback from real Americans and is concerned about his mental fitness to hold office.

"He's not hearing feedback from real Americans, right? Look, I am not convinced that Biden has the mental acuity to do the job today," he said.

Inflation is Stubbs's primary concern heading into November, as it has significantly impacted his family and adult children. He is undecided about his vote and seeks reasons to not support Trump.

Stubbs emphasizes the need for transparency, stating, "The curtain has to be open. We have to know what is going on, who is running the country... We need to know."

The White House has acknowledged that Biden had a poor performance in the debate, attributing it to factors such as a cold and jet lag, but maintains that Biden is in charge and making decisions. Biden himself asserts his fitness for office and his suitability to defeat Trump in the upcoming election.
