The Biden-Harris campaign has launched an eight-figure spending blitz to engage with Black voters as polls indicate the president is losing ground with this key constituency to former President Donald Trump.

Amidst declining support among Black voters, the Biden-Harris campaign has launched a multi-pronged initiative to shore up its support within this demographic. The effort includes an eight-figure spending blitz targeting Black student organizations, community groups, and faith centers nationwide.

The campaign's efforts culminate in a rally in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, featuring President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. This event marks the official launch of the "Black Voters for Biden-Harris" coalition.

"Today's launch...is yet another example of our campaign working diligently to earn every single vote," said Quentin Fulks, the Biden-Harris campaign's principal deputy campaign manager.

Recent polls have indicated a decline in Biden's support among Black voters. A Fox News Poll found Biden with 72% support among this group, down from 79% before the 2020 election. The New York Times/Siena poll revealed that 76% of Black voters rated the current economy as "fair" or "poor."

The Trump campaign has targeted minority voters in states with traditionally Democratic strongholds, reflecting a belief that Biden is vulnerable in these areas. Trump has emphasized the disproportionate impact of inflation on Black and Hispanic families, vowing to address economic concerns.

The Biden-Harris campaign acknowledges the need to bolster outreach efforts to Black voters. In addition to the Philadelphia rally, the campaign will host events with Black-owned small businesses and national organizations focused on direct voter contact.

Throughout the summer, the campaign will collaborate with Black groups to reach Black voters in swing states and register them to vote. "Our campaign believes that Black voters deserve to hear from Team Biden-Harris, and they deserve to have their vote earned, not assumed," the campaign stated.

The Biden team has accused Trump of pursuing an "anti-Black agenda" and "talking down to Black voters." The Trump campaign has not yet responded to a request for comment.

The Biden-Harris campaign's efforts aim to address the concerns of Black voters and bolster support for the president's reelection bid. The outcome of this initiative remains to be seen, but it highlights the importance of voter engagement and outreach in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
