Amidst the recent assassination attempt on former President Trump and Biden's subsequent lackluster debate performance and interviews, David Axelrod asserts that Biden is no longer in a position to prevail over Trump in November's presidential election.

Former Obama adviser David Axelrod issued a somber warning on Wednesday, expressing grave concerns about President Biden's ability to secure victory against former President Trump in the upcoming presidential election.

Drawing upon recent events, including the assassination attempt on Trump, Biden's subpar debate performance, and his subsequent interviews, Axelrod asserted that the incumbent president is no longer well-positioned to win the race.

"This is inexorable, and I don't say this with any pleasure at all because I worked with Joe Biden. He's served this country well for most of his life," Axelrod lamented during a CNN live broadcast from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

"But this is not the coda that he wants on his career. And I think that's what people are telling him, that he can help improve the chances of winning a race that he says is existential, but the way he has to do it is to exit," Axelrod continued.

The assassination attempt against Trump, Axelrod argued, has crystallized something within the electorate, citing the iconic photo captured moments after the incident. "At this point, it's a question about him and whether he has any chance in this race. It's crystallized something that has sent the numbers spiraling," Axelrod said.

Axelrod's concerns echo those of other prominent Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and California Representative Adam Schiff, who have both publicly called on Biden to withdraw from the race.

Critics have raised concerns about Biden's mental fitness for the presidency and his cognitive abilities. According to Axelrod, Biden must acknowledge the worsening polling numbers and the dwindling campaign donations as prominent Democratic donors shift their focus to House and Senate races, deeming the White House out of reach with Biden at the helm.

CNN's Abby Phillip reported on the consensus among many Democrats that Biden has not helped himself with his recent interviews. "His comments have reinforced the idea that he is not connected to what's happening," she said.

Despite Biden's repeated insistence that he is staying in the race, reports have emerged this week suggesting that he may be privately more receptive to the idea of stepping aside, even though his campaign and White House maintain that he will remain in the race until the end.

The upcoming presidential election promises to be a highly contentious battle, with polls showing a tight race nationally. However, Trump consistently leads in the battleground states that will likely determine the winner. The outcome of the election remains uncertain, but Axelrod's warning serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing Biden in his quest for reelection.
