A recent poll has sent shockwaves through the Biden administration, showing the president trailing former President Donald Trump in several key swing states. The New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer poll conducted from July 5-10 found Trump ahead of Biden in Georgia by nine points, Nevada by 13 points, and Arizona by six points among likely voters.

CNN's senior data reporter Harry Enten expressed dismay at the poll results, calling them "an absolute disaster" for Biden. Enten pointed out that Trump's lead in these states is particularly concerning given that Biden narrowly won all six in 2020.

"No Democrat has lost [Nevada] since John Kerry lost it back in 2004," Enten said, emphasizing the significance of Trump's advantage in the state.

The poll also found Trump leading by three points in Pennsylvania and one point in Wisconsin, among likely voters. Biden holds a slim one-point lead in Michigan, according to the Times.

Enten noted that Trump's coalition is becoming more diverse, with a six-point increase among non-White voters since the 2020 election. The Sun Belt states stretching from the southwestern to southeastern U.S. are more diverse than Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, which could benefit Trump.

The CNN data reporter said that Trump currently has an advantage in the race to 270 votes in the Electoral College, but Biden still has a pathway to victory.

Another poll conducted by Fox News in mid-April found similar results, with Trump leading in Georgia by six points and Michigan by three points. The two candidates were tied in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin according to the Fox News poll.

The latest polls indicate a close race between Biden and Trump, with six months remaining until Election Day. The outcome of the election could hinge on these key swing states, where Trump appears to have gained ground.

Biden's campaign has downplayed the significance of the polls, arguing that they are too early to predict the outcome of the election. However, the poll results have raised concerns among Democrats and heightened excitement among Republicans.

As the race for the White House heats up, both Biden and Trump will be closely monitoring the polling data in these key swing states. The outcome of these states could determine the next president of the United States.
