President Biden's recent interview with CNN has drawn heavy criticism from the New York Post, accusing the president of uttering "a lie a minute" and presenting a "fantasyland" of his presidency. The Post alleges a staggering 15 false statements, including claims about job creation, inflation, and his alleged upcoming victory over Donald Trump.
President Biden's recent CNN interview has sparked a firestorm of criticism, with the New York Post's editorial board accusing the president of unleashing a torrent of falsehoods. The Post alleges that Biden told "a lie a minute" during the 17-minute interview, painting a distorted picture of his presidency that voters know to be false.
Among Biden's alleged lies, according to the Post, are claims of having created over 15 million jobs as president. The editorial board dismisses this as a "favorite falsehood," noting that the economy was already recovering from the pandemic when Biden took office. They argue that his policies actually slowed the recovery, citing the fact that it took until July 2022 for the US to regain all the jobs lost due to COVID-19.
The Post also takes aim at Biden's assertion that former President Trump lost more jobs than he created, calling it a "corollary lie." They maintain that Trump did not lose jobs but rather presided over a global pandemic during which the government deliberately shut down businesses and put people on stimulus checks.
Biden's claim that Trump would make Medicare more expensive is also disputed by the Post, pointing out that the presumptive GOP nominee has actually pledged to protect and strengthen the program. Other alleged falsehoods include Biden's remarks about the federal tax rate for billionaires, the economy, polling data, corporate greed, how much money Americans have to spend, taxes, and even Israel.
The editorial board reserves its sharpest criticism for Biden's claim that inflation was 9% when he took office. They accuse Biden of misrepresenting the economic situation, noting that inflation was a mere 1.4% in January 2021. They blame Biden's "drunken-sailor spending spree" during his first year in office for the subsequent rise in inflation.
The Post also dismisses Biden's suggestion that world leaders are encouraging him to defeat Trump because democracy is at stake. They question the veracity of such claims, suggesting that Biden is out of touch with reality.
The editorial concludes by expressing concern over the White House's lack of transparency and accountability, criticizing the administration for avoiding tough interviews with journalists. They argue that Biden's performance in the CNN interview demonstrates the need for a more adversarial media that is willing to hold the president to account.
The White House has not yet responded to a request for comment from Fox News Digital regarding these allegations.
