President Biden's recent announcement that he would withhold weapons aid to Israel if it invaded Rafah has sparked controversy and divided opinions. While some see it as a backpedal from his ironclad commitment to the Jewish state, others perceive it as a strategic move to prevent a humanitarian crisis.

After President Biden's initial comparison of Hamas to the Nazis, his recent decision to halt weapons deliveries to Jerusalem has raised concerns among Israeli critics, who accuse him of weakening his commitment to the Jewish state. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are close to capturing Rafah, Hamas' last stronghold in Gaza, but Biden's announcement has sent shockwaves through the Israeli political landscape.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared that Israel would not be subdued and vowed to pursue its objectives regardless of external pressures. Amid the controversy, Israeli President Isaac Herzog criticized National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for labeling Hamas as "loving Biden."

However, some Israelis and American politicians believe that Biden's decision is motivated by a desire to appease the far-left base of the Democratic Party ahead of the November elections. Chaim Noll, an Israeli author, accused Biden of betraying Israel, while former Netanyahu advisor Caroline Glick asserted that Israel has been "abandoned and betrayed" by the Biden administration.

Dan Diker, president of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, argues that Biden's decision to punish Israel by threatening to cut off arms and ammunition undermines the United States' interests in the region by emboldening its adversaries. Wim Kortenoeven, a Dutch immigrant to Israel, emphasizes Biden's history of clashes with former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, who famously resisted threats to withhold aid from Israel.

Kortenoeven also criticizes Secretary of State Antony Blinken's support for a two-state solution, which he believes will weaken Israel and empower its enemies. Despite Biden and Blinken's insistence that a two-state solution will ensure Israel's security, Kortenoeven maintains that it will only embolden terrorist organizations seeking to destroy the Jewish state.

Biden and Blinken's reasoning remains unclear, as a Fox News Digital request for comment from Netanyahu's office went unanswered. The timing of Biden's decision coincides with a Hamas attack that resulted in the deaths of four soldiers near the Rafah crossing, raising questions about the potential impact on Israel's defense capabilities. The situation remains fluid and highly contested, with both sides vehemently defending their positions.
