Bizarre NHL Draft Question: Team Asks Prospect About Uber Rating and Snapchat Score

Zayne Parekh, an 18-year-old defenseman from the Saginaw Spirit in the Ontario Hockey League, is widely expected to be a top-10 pick in this month's NHL Draft. However, during a recent media session at the NHL Combine in Buffalo, Parekh revealed that at least one team asked him some rather unconventional questions.

"A team asked me what my Uber rating and Snapchat scores were," Parekh said. "Those were the two [questions] that stood out."

Bizarre NHL Draft Question: Team Asks Prospect About Uber Rating and Snapchat Score

Parekh's Uber rating is a respectable 4.92, just shy of a perfect five-star rating. However, he kept his Snapchat score a secret.

For those unfamiliar with Snapchat, a Snapchat score is a numerical representation of how active a user is on the app. It is calculated based on a combination of factors, including the number of Snaps sent and received, the number of Stories posted, and other undisclosed metrics. In general, a higher Snapchat score indicates a more active user.

Bizarre NHL Draft Question: Team Asks Prospect About Uber Rating and Snapchat Score

Why a team would be interested in a prospect's Uber rating or Snapchat score is unclear. However, it is possible that the team was trying to get a sense of Parekh's character and off-ice habits.

For example, a high Uber rating could indicate that Parekh is reliable and responsible, while a low Snapchat score could suggest that he is more focused on hockey than on social media.

Of course, it is also possible that the team was simply trying to be different and memorable. After all, asking a prospect about their Uber rating and Snapchat score is certainly not something that is done on a regular basis.

Regardless of the team's motives, Parekh's Uber rating of 4.92 is a good sign of a positive character in the locker room, and some team should be very happy to draft him.
