A CNN data reporter expressed astonishment over recent polls indicating a significant increase in support for former President Donald Trump among Black voters under 50, while President Biden's popularity among this demographic has plummeted.

CNN data reporter Harry Enten has raised alarm bells over a recent poll that reveals a stunning shift in the voting patterns of Black voters. According to the poll, support for President Joe Biden among Black voters under 50 has plummeted from 80 points in 2020 to a mere 37 points in 2024.

Enten expressed his disbelief, stating, "I've just never seen anything like this. I'm like speechless."

The poll's findings indicate that Biden has experienced a slight decline in support among Black voters over 50. However, the most significant drop has been among younger Black voters.

In contrast, former President Trump has made significant gains in his support from Black voters. The poll shows that Trump's approval rating has tripled among Black voters over the last four years, rising from 7% in 2020 to 21% in 2024.

Enten emphasized that Trump's gains among Black voters pose a serious threat to Biden's reelection campaign. He noted that if the voting shifts predicted by the poll were to materialize, Trump would win the 2024 election with 291 Electoral College votes.

A USA Today/Suffolk University poll published recently supports these findings. The poll indicates that support for Biden among Black voters in Michigan and Pennsylvania has decreased by approximately 20 percentage points since the last election. In Michigan, Trump has gained 15% of the Black vote, while Biden's support has dropped to 54%.

According to the poll, Trump has secured 11% of the Black vote in Pennsylvania, a three-point increase since 2020. Biden still leads with 56% support among Black voters in the state.

The latest Fox News poll reveals that Biden's overall support among Black voters is at 72%, which is an improvement from February but still a decline from his 79% approval rating before the 2020 election.

Enten has been tracking the trend of increasing support for Trump among Black voters, and he believes that several factors may be contributing to the shift. One possibility is that some Black voters are dissatisfied with Biden's handling of issues such as the economy, inflation, and crime.

Additionally, some voters may be attracted to Trump's message of economic populism and his promise to address the concerns of working-class Americans. The former president's focus on issues such as law and order and immigration may also resonate with certain demographics.

The polling results are a cause for concern for Democrats, particularly as the 2024 presidential election approaches. The Black vote has traditionally been a core component of the Democratic coalition, and a significant defection of younger Black voters to Trump could have a major impact on the election's outcome.

Democrats must work to address the concerns of these voters and develop strategies to regain their support. Failure to do so could have serious consequences for the party's electoral prospects in the upcoming election.
