The All-Star shortstop becomes the first player in major league history to record multiple seasons with at least 30 home runs and 30 steals.

Bobby Witt Jr. continues to rewrite the history books for shortstops and has emerged as a driving force behind the Kansas City Royals' playoff aspirations. On Tuesday night, he accomplished a feat that no other shortstop has ever achieved in MLB history.

In the first inning of the Royals' game against the Detroit Tigers, Witt swiped second base, becoming the first shortstop to have multiple seasons with at least 30 homers and 30 steals. He now has 31 homers and 30 steals this season, adding to his record-setting campaign.

The 24-year-old superstar joined an elite group of players who have had multiple 30-30 seasons in their first three years in the big leagues. In fact, only six other players have accomplished this rare feat.

Witt's breakout performance has been a major factor in the Royals' resurgence this season. After enduring a 106-loss campaign in 2022, Kansas City is now firmly in contention for an AL wild-card spot.

With 200 hits, a .332 average, and 112 runs scored, Witt is also leading the majors in these key categories. Only four players in MLB history have finished a season leading in all three.

Beyond his statistical achievements, Witt has ignited an infectious enthusiasm within the Royals' clubhouse and among their fans. His leadership and energy have propelled the team back into the playoff race.

The Royals' success was built on the back-to-back AL Pennants they won in 2014 and 2015, culminating in their World Series victory in 2015. However, they struggled to sustain that momentum and fell back into mediocrity. Kansas City endured three seasons of 100-plus losses before turning things around under manager Matt Quatraro this season.

Witt's stardom reached new heights during the Home Run Derby at the MLB All-Star Game in July. The Arlington native advanced to the finals, showcasing his power and charisma to a national audience.

Witt's historic performance and the Royals' resurgence have reignited hope in Kansas City. The team is poised to make a strong playoff push and has a bright future with their young star leading the way.
