Newly released bodycam footage from the shooting at former President Trump's Pennsylvania rally provides more information than what the Secret Service has shared. The footage shows the response to the rooftop where the gunman was positioned and reveals the discovery of a cell phone and a transmitter on his body.
Following the release of bodycam footage from the attempted assassination of former President Trump, Senator Chuck Grassley has raised concerns about the lack of transparency from the Secret Service. The senator obtained the footage from the Beaver County Emergency Service Unit (ESU) and claims it provides more information than what the Secret Service has shared with the public.

The video shows Beaver County ESU officers and U.S. Secret Service personnel accessing the rooftop from where Thomas Crooks fired an AR-15-style rifle at Trump. One spectator was killed, and Trump and two other supporters were injured at the Republican presidential candidate's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Grassley expressed frustration in a post on X, stating, "We NEED detailed answers ASAP on security failures. TRANSPARENCY BRINGS ACCOUNTABILITY." He called for increased accountability and urged the Secret Service to provide more information about the incident.

In the moments following the assassination attempt, the bodycam footage shows ESU officers and Secret Service agents running towards the shooter and accessing the AGR building rooftop. On the rooftop, a trail of blood can be seen leading to the body of 20-year-old Thomas Crooks.
An officer searching Crooks' body finds a cell phone and a transmitter. "It is a remote control device. It is gray in color, about five, six inches tall," the officer reports.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee, revealing new details about explosive devices found in Crooks' car and home. Investigators discovered three explosive devices, two in Crooks' vehicle near the Butler rally and one in his home. Wray described the devices as "relatively crude" but emphasized that they were rigged for remote detonation and posed a significant threat.
Director Wray also acknowledged that the investigation has not eliminated the possibility of Crooks working with accomplices. The bureau is examining encrypted messaging apps used by Crooks and is investigating whether he had any contact with individuals who may have aided in the assassination attempt.

FBI investigators also recovered a drone Crooks used to scout the area where Trump's rally took place. The drone and controller were found in Crooks' vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Investigators believe Crooks flew the drone around near the venue between 3:50 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the day of the rally. The drone was approximately 200 yards away from the stage during the flight.
