"In a recent interview, 'Saturday Night Live' cast member Bowen Yang revealed that one guest host made multiple cast members cry during a table read before a live taping."

"Saturday Night Live" has been known for producing laughter and joy for decades, but cast member Bowen Yang recently recalled a very different experience during one table read at the show's iconic Studio 8H in Midtown Manhattan.

Speaking on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Yang revealed that a male guest host sparked tears among cast members days before a live taping. The incident occurred during a session where the cast develops ideas for the upcoming episode.

"This man who... this person, this host made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday during the, before the table-read, because he hated the ideas," Yang told Cohen.

While Yang did not name the offending guest host, he described the experience as "terrible." The "Fire Island" star added that the incident unfolded at the table read, before the cast had even begun rehearsing sketches.

"I almost feel like I shouldn't say it, but it was so terrible, literally," Yang said. "I've never seen anything like it."

Yang has been a cast member on "SNL" since 2018 and has become a fan favorite with his eccentric characters and witty one-liners. Despite the unfortunate incident with the guest host, Yang remains dedicated to the show and continues to bring his all to every performance.

In a separate interview, Yang discussed another on-screen setback he experienced during a sketch with host Ayo Edebiri last season. The sketch was originally planned as a live elevator scene but was later converted into a pre-tape, which Yang felt did not turn out as well as he had hoped.

"We wrote a live sketch where it took place in an elevator, and she and I were, like, telling everyone that we should all make out or something because the elevator got stuck," Yang explained. "Then, for some reason, it got turned into a pre-tape under our noses, and we had to adapt to that... It just didn't go as well as I had hoped."

Yang emphasized that comedy is subjective and that it's impossible to predict how a sketch will be received by the audience. Despite the occasional setback, he remains committed to his craft and continues to strive for excellence on "Saturday Night Live."

"You just deal with it," Yang said. "Comedy's subjective, you never know how it's gonna play in front of a specific audience. But it's fine, you let it roll off your back."
