The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Bronny James, the eldest son of LeBron James, with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. While the James family celebrated Bronny's achievement, his younger brother, Bryce James, raised doubts about his father's continued presence in the NBA when Bryce becomes eligible for the draft in 2026.

The Los Angeles Lakers' acquisition of Bronny James marks a significant milestone in the James family's basketball dynasty. The 19-year-old guard, who has long been touted as one of the most promising prospects in his age group, will now suit up alongside his legendary father, LeBron James.

While the elder James has been vocal about his desire to play with his son, the younger James has expressed skepticism about whether LeBron will still be an active player when Bryce becomes eligible for the NBA Draft in 2026.

In a recent Instagram Live session, Bryce James was asked whether he believed his father would remain in the NBA until Bryce was ready to enter the league. His response was less than enthusiastic.

"I'm not gonna lie, that's OD," he said. "Nah, that's too much. No, Good Lord. He's going to be 42."

The Los Angeles Times recently reported that LeBron James is likely to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Lakers. This move would make him an unrestricted free agent, although the consensus within NBA circles is that James intends to remain with the Lakers.

If James opts out, he could negotiate a new contract that includes a no-trade clause, something he is currently unable to do under his existing deal. NBA rules prohibit no-trade clauses from being added to contracts via extensions.

Despite being only 16 years old, Bryce James has already showcased NBA-level potential. The 6-foot-4 guard starred in games against other top talent in his age group, scoring 21 points in a Nike Elite Youth Basketball League game.

After playing for two years at Sierra Canyon School alongside his older brother, Bryce transferred multiple times over seven months. He eventually returned to Sierra Canyon and has continued to impress with his athleticism and skillset.

Regardless of whether Bryce James plays alongside his father in the NBA, LeBron James' legacy as one of the greatest players of all time is secure. His selection of Bronny James with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft adds another chapter to the James family's illustrious basketball history.
