Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, expressed his desire to challenge his father in a one-on-one basketball game. He also shared his thoughts on a potential game against his younger brother, Bryce, and discussed his NBA draft prospects.
When asked by reporters which NBA player he would challenge to a one-on-one game, Bronny responded with confidence: "LeBron James, because I haven't played him one-on-one in a minute."
Pressed further on the outcome of such a contest, Bronny remained coy: "That I don't know... To be determined."
"I'm winning, 11-5," Bronny declared with a grin.
Bronny's father, LeBron, has previously expressed his desire to play in the NBA alongside his son. However, after the Los Angeles Lakers' first-round playoff exit, LeBron admitted that he had not given much thought to that possibility lately.
"My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself and, of course, get to the NBA," Bronny said. "I never thought about playing with my dad."
Bronny acknowledged his father's influence, but emphasized that he is determined to succeed on his own merits.
"I don't think a GM would really allow [drafting me just because of my dad]," he said. "I think I've put in the work, and I'll get drafted because of not only the player but the person that I am."
Bronny's impressive performance at the NBA Scouting Combine has further cemented his status as a top prospect. He measured at a height of 6 feet, 1½ inches, and has shown impressive athleticism and ball handling skills.
Bronny's aspirations extend beyond the NBA. He also expressed his desire to have his own unique legacy, separate from his father's.
"I want to be known as Bronny James, not LeBron's son," he said.
Bronny's determination and unwavering confidence have drawn comparisons to his father. However, he remains focused on carving his own path in the basketball world.
As he prepares for the NBA Draft, Bronny is eager to prove that he is more than just the son of a legend. With his talent, work ethic, and unwavering belief in himself, he is well on his way to establishing his own legacy in the sport.
