Burke, who will turn 53 in September, has incorporated compound exercises and heavy weights into her workout regimen. Contrary to popular belief, women often avoid heavy weights, fearing they will result in a bulky physique. However, Burke emphasizes that this is a misconception.

"We would have to consume so much protein and go so heavy and be so diligent about that program to really change the body," she said.

For women in their 50s, Burke highlights the crucial role of weight training in maintaining bone density and preventing osteoporosis. It also boosts metabolism, enhances strength, improves coordination, and shifts hormones.

"It's the first time I'm really adding heavy weights. And heavy for me is like 10 pound arms, right?" Burke said. "But it's making me stronger. I'm feeling my body changing, I'm able to maintain lean muscle."

Burke, who hosts a LIVE! Zoom workout class every Friday on her website, BrookeBurke.com, incorporates heavy weights into her booty burn programs to build curves in her glute muscles.

Protein intake is another key aspect of Burke's fitness journey. "I'm also adding a lot of protein to my diet because my body needs it," she said.

Depriving the body of nutrients, such as through fad diets, is strongly discouraged by Burke. "I feel like we are in a phase in our country of a quick fix," she said. "I am eating more. I'm leaner, I'm stronger, and I'm more satisfied. And I have more energy."

Burke emphasizes the importance of nutrient-dense foods and sufficient protein intake. "I just don't count calories," she said. "I have enough stuff to count in my life."

Intermittent fasting is a practice that Burke incorporates into her routine, but with intention. "I do it with intention. I put full cream in my coffee," she said.

Burke's approach to wellness has evolved over time, becoming more holistic and enjoyable. "Flavorful meals, herbs, spices, oils, it's a different way of approaching wellness. Different than when I was in my 20s. It's better, and it's more fun, and it's more flavorful."

Burke's message to women over 50 is a resounding one: "Eat, everybody. Don't starve."
