The Cleveland Browns have announced their list of inactive players and expected lineup changes for their Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Four key players, including tackles Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin, will be sidelined due to injuries. This could force the Browns to make significant adjustments to their offensive line and receiving corps.
The Cleveland Browns have announced their list of inactive players for their Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team will be without four key players:
Browns Announce Inactives, Expected Lineup Changes for Week 2
* Tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. (ankle)
* Tackle Jack Conklin (knee)
* Wide receiver Jamari Thrash (hamstring)
* Tight end David Njoku (knee)
The absences of Wills and Conklin will force the Browns to make significant changes to their offensive line. Dawand Jones is expected to start at right tackle, while James Hudson III is expected to start at left tackle.
Jones, a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has yet to start a game in the NFL. Hudson, a third-round pick in the same draft, started nine games at left tackle last season.
The Browns may also make changes to their receiving corps with Thrash and Njoku out injured. Anthony Schwartz, Demetric Felton, and Donovan Peoples-Jones are expected to see increased playing time in their absence.
The injuries to Wills, Conklin, Thrash, and Njoku are a major blow to the Browns' offense. Wills and Conklin are two of the most important players on the offensive line, and their absence could have a significant impact on the running game and pass protection.
Thrash and Njoku are both key contributors in the passing game, and their absence will make it harder for quarterback Jacoby Brissett to move the ball.
The Browns will need to make adjustments to their game plan and hope that their backups can step up in the absence of these key players.
* Wills and Conklin are both considered to be week-to-week, but it is unclear if they will be ready for Week 3.
* Thrash and Njoku are both expected to miss multiple weeks.
* The Browns also announced that defensive end Chase Winovich will be active for the first time this season.
The Browns will face the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday, September 18th at 1:00 PM ET.
