A California junior high school band director is facing termination after two former students filed allegations of sexual abuse dating back to the 1980s.
(Anaheim, CA) - A 61-year-old band director at Lexington Junior High School in Anaheim, California, is expected to lose his job after two former students accused him of sexual abuse in the 1980s.
Steve Graves, the accused teacher, has been placed on administrative leave while school officials initiate the firing process. The Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) confirmed the allegations and stated their shock and dismay.

The law firm representing the victims, Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, claims the abuse began in 1986 when Graves taught at Loara High School in Anaheim. At the time, he was in his early twenties, while the victims were 16 years old.
One of the victims, known as Reiko, told FOX 11 Los Angeles that she gave birth to Graves' child when she was 17. She later transferred schools following her pregnancy and delivery.

Decades later, Reiko reconnected with the other victim through social media, and they shared their experiences. They contacted authorities, leading to an investigation by the Anaheim Police Department.
The victims allege that Graves abused them while they were students at Loara High School. No charges have been filed against him at this time, but the women are pursuing a civil lawsuit.
