During an episode of his podcast, "The Cam Newton Foundation Podcast," Newton openly shared his feelings about the snub, questioning whether his previous comments about McCaffrey's quarterback replacement, Brock Purdy, had played a role in the decision.

"Damn, C-Mac. I couldn't get an invite?" Newton said on the podcast. "F--- that man! You lucky I wasn't there C-Mac!" he added with a smile.

Newton went on to explain that he would have crashed the wedding if he had the opportunity, as it appeared that the attendees had a lot of fun.

"I don't know if I would've been able to go... I at least wanted to say, 'Bro I can't make it.' I at least wanted to give you a present or something," Newton said.

He also mentioned his girlfriend's reaction to Culpo's multiple outfit changes throughout the evening.

"... The first thing she said, 'Damn, Olivia changed outfits three times!' S---, one of the outfits could've been a damn Meshika hat," Newton said jokingly.

Despite his disappointment, Newton did congratulate McCaffrey and his bride, Olivia Culpo, on their nuptials.

McCaffrey later explained in a post on Instagram that he did not have Newton's number and had been trying to get in touch with him. He posted a mock conversation he had with his former teammate, Greg Olsen, about wanting Newton at his wedding.

"I was like, I'm having a wedding soon. How do I get Cam's number?" McCaffrey said in the Instagram post.

Newton responded by asking what number McCaffrey had.

McCaffrey and Culpo married in Rhode Island on June 29, 2023. The wedding was a star-studded affair, with attendees including Greg Olsen, Kyle Juszczyk, Kyle Shanahan, and comedian Shane Gillis.

Despite Newton's absence, the wedding received widespread attention, particularly for Culpo's stunning dress, which sparked discussions among social media influencers.

McCaffrey and Culpo have since received numerous well wishes from fans, friends, and fellow athletes. McCaffrey is currently playing for the San Francisco 49ers, while Newton remains a free agent.
