Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb remains unsigned as his contract negotiations with the team continue to stall, casting doubt over his availability for the upcoming training camp.
CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys' star wide receiver, finds himself in a protracted contract dispute with the franchise, leaving his availability for the upcoming training camp uncertain. Lamb has been vocal about his desire for a new long-term deal, but negotiations have reached an impasse.
On Tuesday, longtime Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed optimism about an impending agreement. "I believe we'll come together... We wouldn't have offered him what we've offered him if we didn't want him to be here," Jones stated.

However, Lamb does not share Jones's optimism. In a social media post, the wide receiver said he was "still waiting on that phone call," adding that he would continue to train until a new deal was reached.
Lamb's contract saga has been ongoing for months. He opted out of the Cowboys' offseason program and mandatory organized team activities, and he is yet to report to training camp. The 25-year-old is scheduled to play the 2024 season under his fifth-year option, worth an estimated $17.9 million.

According to NFL Media, the Cowboys have offered Lamb a contract that would pay him approximately $33 million per year, trailing only Vikings' Justin Jefferson among wide receivers. Yet, Lamb appears to be holding out for a more lucrative deal.
Lamb's contract situation is not the only pressing issue facing the Cowboys. Quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his contract, and standout linebacker Micah Parson became eligible for an extension this offseason. Moreover, head coach Mike McCarthy's future beyond 2024 is also in question.

Lamb's absence from training camp raises concerns about his fitness and readiness for the upcoming season. He has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons and led the NFL in receptions in 2023 with 135. He also finished second in receiving yards with 1,749.
The Cowboys open the season in Cleveland on September 8 against the Browns. Lamb's presence or absence will significantly impact their offensive performance and championship aspirations.
The contract dispute between Lamb and the Cowboys underscores the complexities of NFL negotiations. Both sides are seeking to protect their best interests, but time is running out as the start of the season approaches. The outcome of these negotiations will have a profound impact on the Dallas Cowboys' fortunes in 2024 and beyond.
