Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has agreed to a four-year, $136 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys, making him the second highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The deal comes after an extended holdout by Lamb, who had been seeking a more lucrative contract.
CeeDee Lamb's holdout with the Dallas Cowboys has come to an end, as he has reportedly agreed to a massive extension that has him set to return to the team ahead of the 2024 regular season.
Lamb and the Cowboys agreed to a four-year deal, reportedly worth $136 million, making him the second highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. His $34 million per season on the extension is just $1 million shy of Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson, who reached an extension with his squad this offseason worth $35 million per season.

The deal comes after an extended holdout by Lamb, who had been seeking a more lucrative contract. The Cowboys initially reportedly offered a deal worth around $30 million per season, but Lamb reportedly rejected that offer and sought more than $33 million per year. The Cowboys eventually increased their offer to the $34 million range that Lamb was seeking.
Lamb's holdout had been a major talking point in NFL circles, with some fans and pundits criticizing him for holding out and potentially damaging his relationship with the Cowboys. However, the two sides were ultimately able to come to an agreement, and Lamb is now set to return to the team ahead of the season opener.

The Cowboys are undoubtedly thrilled to have Lamb back in the fold. The 25-year-old has been a rising star since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2020. He has made three Pro Bowls and has set new career highs in each of his three seasons in the NFL. He is one of the most talented young receivers in the league, and he is expected to play a major role in the Cowboys' offense this season.
Lamb's extension is also a sign that the Cowboys are committed to building a contending team. The Cowboys have a lot of talent on their roster, and they believe that they can make a run at the Super Bowl this season. Lamb's presence gives them a legitimate chance to do so.

However, the Cowboys still have some work to do. Quarterback Dak Prescott is also due a new contract, and his future with the team is uncertain. Head coach Mike McCarthy is also on the hot seat after the Cowboys' disappointing playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers last season.
Despite these concerns, the Cowboys are hopeful that Lamb's extension will signal a return to contention. The young receiver is one of the most exciting players in the NFL, and he has the potential to be one of the best. If the Cowboys can surround him with enough talent, they could be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
The Cowboys will open their season on the road against the Cleveland Browns on September 11th.
