As White approached the man, wearing a Colorado State Rams hat, in the front row, the individual swung at him with a closed fist, striking him in the head and sending him backwards. Several other men around White pushed and separated the attacker, as White was quick to attempt to retaliate.
A person believed to be a friend of White's held him back as he persisted in trying to engage with his attacker. Another scene from the altercation revealed White assisting another individual off the ground. During their exchange, the man could be heard saying, "I was just trying to help you."

It remains unclear whether security or law enforcement intervened after the incident. White, who recently claimed an NBA title with the Celtics and helped Team USA secure gold in Paris, has attended previous Buffaloes games to support his former team.
White played for the Boulder-based university from 2016-2017, having previously attended the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs from 2012-2015. He was subsequently selected in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.

White spent five seasons with the Spurs before being traded midseason to the Celtics during the 2021-2022 campaign. He has since played a pivotal role for the team as a bench player.
During this year's playoffs, which culminated in the Celtics' NBA title victory, White averaged 16.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 40.4% from beyond the arc. His marksmanship and defensive prowess make him a valuable asset for Boston.
White's involvement in the altercation has raised questions about the safety and security of attendees at sporting events. It is unclear if any further action will be taken regarding the incident.
Following the altercation, White took to social media to address the situation. In a statement, he thanked his supporters and condemned the violence that had occurred.
"I would like to express my gratitude for the outpouring of support I have received in the wake of the incident at the Colorado-Colorado State football game," White wrote. "Violence is never the answer, and I deeply regret any part I may have played in escalating the situation."
White went on to emphasize his commitment to sportsmanship and expressed hope that the incident would serve as a reminder of the importance of peaceful behavior.
"As an athlete, I believe in fair play and respect for others, both on and off the field," White stated. "I apologize to anyone who witnessed the altercation and was concerned for my safety or the safety of others. I hope that we can all learn from this experience and move forward in a spirit of unity and sportsmanship."
White's statement was met with mixed reactions, with some praising him for his apology and others expressing disappointment in his initial involvement in the altercation. The incident has sparked a broader discussion about the need for improved security and fan behavior at sporting events.
