Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has reiterated his support for ongoing investigations into corruption allegations against Democratic Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard. During a recent event, Pritzker acknowledged the severity of the claims and expressed a willingness to allocate state resources to assist with the inquiries.

"We've looked into whether we ought to put resources, whether it's state police and their anti-corruption efforts or asking the Attorney General," Pritzker stated. He noted that the FBI and former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are already conducting significant investigations into Henyard's actions.

The governor emphasized his preference for a coordinated approach to the investigations, stating, "We'll support them in every way we can, but it's just a matter of whether you want everybody running over each other in those investigations, or do you want two concerted efforts to get the facts?"

The investigations stem from a series of allegations against Henyard, including lavish spending, misuse of public funds, and possible corruption. Henyard has vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them a politically motivated smear campaign.

A recent town meeting intended to address the allegations descended into chaos as Henyard's opponents and supporters clashed in a shouting match. Police were compelled to intervene to prevent the altercation from escalating into violence.

Amidst the turmoil, Dolton trustees voted in favor of reinstating Lightfoot to investigate Henyard, who had previously vetoed such an investigation in March.

Henyard has garnered notoriety for her controversial actions, prompting some critics to label her the "worst mayor in America." She has faced accusations of weaponizing police raids and has been linked to an alleged sexual assault by one of her allies.

The FBI launched its investigation into Henyard in February and has since issued subpoenas for employment records of several Dolton employees, including top aide Keith Freeman. The village subsequently hired Lightfoot as a special investigator at a rate of $400 per hour.

Pritzker's support for the investigations underscores the seriousness of the allegations against Henyard. The ongoing inquiries aim to uncover the truth behind the claims and determine if any wrongdoing has occurred.
