Multimedia mogul Charlamagne tha God has joined the chorus of critics against former President Trump, acknowledging that he, too, suffers from "Trump Derangement Syndrome." His comments follow Robert De Niro's scathing attack on Trump outside the Manhattan courthouse, where Trump is facing criminal charges.
Charlamagne tha God, the popular radio host and author, echoed Robert De Niro's condemnation of former President Trump during an appearance on "Gutfeld!" Tuesday night.
"Let the record show I totally agree with Robert De Niro," Charlamagne said. "I am one of those people that suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome."
Charlamagne's admission reflects the heightened political polarization in the United States, where strong feelings and rhetoric often dominate discourse. He elaborated on his views, stating, "I think he is a threat to democracy. I think that he led an attempted coup of his country."
Charlamagne cited Trump's unsubstantiated claims of election fraud and his Truth Social post suggesting the termination of constitutional norms as evidence of his dangerous rhetoric. He also drew attention to Project 2025, a conservative proposal to overhaul the federal government, expressing concerns about its potential implications.
"I'm one of those guys that's like, I don't know if he will necessarily leave. I hope he does," Charlamagne added, expressing doubts about Trump's willingness to respect the results of the upcoming election.
Charlamagne's comments sparked considerable discussion on social media, with some commentators supporting his views while others criticized him for engaging in hyperbole.
The Biden campaign's decision to hold a press conference outside the Trump trial, featuring De Niro as a special guest, further inflamed the controversy. Critics accused the campaign of politicizing the legal proceedings, while supporters argued that it was an appropriate way to raise awareness about the threat posed by Trump.
Charlamagne's remarks and the ensuing debate highlight the deep divisions within American society and the challenges in finding common ground in a highly polarized political environment.
