A Chick-Fil-A delivery driver in Georgia showed immense courage and fought off an armed robber, resulting in the suspect's arrest by police.

In a display of unwavering bravery, a delivery driver at a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Stone Mountain, Georgia, successfully fought off an armed robber in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Around 4:30 am, 51-year-old Tommie Lee Williams, allegedly armed and masked, broke into the Chick-Fil-A through a drive-thru window, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. Williams, armed with a handgun, confronted the delivery driver in the kitchen area and threatened to kill him if he did not open the restaurant's safe.

"When officers arrived, the victim told them that he was a delivery driver for the business and while he was inside working, the suspect smashed through a drive-thru window with a rock and entered the kitchen area," the Gwinnett County Police Department wrote in a statement posted on Facebook.

"The suspect told the victim that he was going to die if he didn’t open the safe and pointed a handgun at him," the statement continued.

Despite the threat of violence, the delivery driver refused to comply with Williams' demand, claiming he did not know the combination to the safe. This defiance ignited a physical altercation, as the delivery driver bravely fought back against the armed robber.

Surveillance footage, released by the police department, captured the intense struggle between the two men. The footage shows the delivery driver grappling with Williams for several minutes over control of the gun. Through sheer determination, the Chick-Fil-A worker managed to remove the robber's mask, providing crucial assistance to the police in identifying the suspect.

Williams eventually fled the scene through a back door, but his escape was short-lived. Detectives from the Gwinnett County Police Department were able to track down the vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery, leading to Williams' swift arrest.

The suspect, Tommie Lee Williams, has been charged with a litany of offenses, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, kidnapping, possession of a firearm during a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and criminal damage to property.

Williams was apprehended by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of U.S. Marshals. His arrest serves as a testament to the courage and resilience of the Chick-Fil-A delivery driver who stood his ground and prevented a potentially more serious incident.
