A bipartisan group of lawmakers are proposing stringent measures to prevent China from acquiring sensitive properties near federal lands in the United States. The legislation, spearheaded by GOP Rep. Dan Newhouse, seeks to address concerns over the expanding influence of the Chinese Communist Party in strategic areas.

In a sobering assessment, Fox News military analyst Pete Hegseth projects a significant advantage for China's military by 2025. Noting the declining numbers of active service members in the U.S. military, Hegseth emphasizes the need for urgent action to address this growing disparity.

Meanwhile, GOP Rep. Dan Newhouse is leading a charge in Congress to counter China's strategic land acquisition efforts. The "No American Land for Communist China Act" would bar businesses and individuals with ties to the Chinese Communist Party from purchasing properties adjacent to federal lands. With 20 cosponsors, including committee Chairman John Moolenaar, the legislation aims to safeguard U.S. national security by preventing potential espionage and surveillance activities.

The proposed legislation targets entities where the Chinese government holds 25% or more equity interest. Federal lands encompassed by the bill include military installations, Indian reservations, and land managed by the Forest Service and other agencies.

Rep. Newhouse highlights the urgency of this measure, citing a rise in cases involving the CCP's attempts to infiltrate U.S. institutions. He emphasizes the need to protect critical federal lands against foreign actors seeking to exert undue influence on the global stage.

The legislation aligns with broader efforts to enhance security around U.S. military installations. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) has expanded its jurisdiction to include military cites, recognizing the potential national security risks associated with land acquisitions by Chinese Communist Party-linked individuals.

CFIUS reviews foreign real estate transactions and considers the risk of intelligence collection at military installations, aiming to mitigate the threat of foreign surveillance. The proposed legislation would reinforce these efforts by preventing China from gaining proximity to sensitive federal lands.

The legislation comes amidst concerns about the Chinese Communist Party's increasing economic and military power. It reflects a bipartisan determination to safeguard U.S. national security and address the growing influence of China in strategic areas.

As the world navigates an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, measures to protect U.S. interests and counter potential threats become paramount. The "No American Land for Communist China Act" is a timely and necessary step towards preserving American sovereignty and preserving the integrity of U.S. national security.
