Former New Jersey Republican governor and longtime Trump critic Chris Christie faced backlash from co-hosts of "The View" after declaring that he would not vote for either former President Donald Trump or President Joe Biden.
Christie's stance immediately drew criticism from the show's hosts, who pressed him to reconsider his decision. Co-host Ana Navarro pointedly asked, "I know you're not voting for Trump, would you vote for a Democratic ticket?"

Christie responded with a firm "Right now, I'm not voting for either," eliciting gasps and objections from the co-hosts. He went on to explain his reasoning, arguing that Biden was "completely mentally incompetent" for the job.
However, co-host Joy Behar insisted that Christie had to vote. "No, I'm gonna vote down ticket. I don't have to vote [for president], no!" Christie retorted, standing his ground.

Co-host Sunny Hostin interjected, "You cannot throw away your vote! I asked you the last time you were on, Chris, and you're gonna sit this one out?"
Navarro grilled Christie, arguing that it was ironic he was telling Democrats to ditch their current presidential nominee when he planned to vote for neither. The former governor maintained this position as long as Biden remained the Democratic nominee, but hinted he may change his mind if a better candidate emerged.

When asked by Hostin why he was critical of Harris, Christie replied, "Why not?' We only have like a minute-thirty. I don't have enough time."
Hostin has been a vocal defender of Harris in the past, attributing her perceived shortcomings to her race or gender.

After Christie declared that the Biden-Harris ticket would not win in November, Behar asked if he would consider a Harris-Joe Shapiro ticket. "Don't know. Let me see what they have to say," he said.
When multiple hosts objected to this noncommittal answer, Christie quipped, "I'm sorry that I care for what people stand for. I apologize. I'm not gonna pre-commit to it! Let them perform and earn my vote! People should have their vote earned!"
Despite Behar's insistence that Christie would surely vote for Biden by the next time they saw him, Christie joked, "Voting for you, Joy. I'll write you in!"
Christie's refusal to endorse either major party candidate reflects a growing rift within the Republican Party, where some members are distancing themselves from Trump and seeking more moderate alternatives. However, his decision not to support Biden, even as a placeholder, has raised questions about his commitment to bipartisanship and the future of the party.
