Paul was acquired by the Warriors in a blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards last season, with Jordan Poole heading to the Eastern Conference as part of the deal. However, Paul's stint with Golden State did not live up to expectations.

In 58 games with the Warriors, Paul averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds, well below his career averages. He also struggled with injuries, playing in fewer than 60 games in consecutive seasons for the first time since the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons with the Houston Rockets.

Despite his recent struggles, Paul remains one of the most respected point guards in NBA history. He is the league's all-time leader in assists among active players with 11,894 and is one of only two players, along with LeBron James, to have at least 11,000 assists all-time.

Paul is also considered one of the best modern players to never win an NBA championship. He came close in 2021 when he led the Suns to the NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks but ultimately lost in six games.

With Paul now a free agent, several teams are expected to express interest in his services. The Phoenix Suns, where he spent the previous six seasons, could be a potential landing spot, as they have a need for a veteran point guard. Other possible destinations include the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks.

Paul is set to turn 40 years old at the end of the 2024-25 season and has averaged 17.5 points and 9.4 assists per game for his career. While his production may have declined in recent years, he remains a valuable asset for any team seeking leadership and experience on the court.

The free agency period officially begins on June 30, and Paul will have the opportunity to negotiate a contract with any team that offers him a spot. It remains to be seen where he will ultimately land, but one thing is certain: Chris Paul is far from finished in the NBA.
