CNN panelists George Conway and Arthur Aidala engaged in a heated debate on Thursday night over Michael Cohen's credibility as a witness in the trial against his former boss, former President Trump.

Cohen, Trump's former personal attorney, has become a star witness for the prosecution, but his past legal troubles have raised questions about his reliability.

Aidala vehemently asserted that Cohen's "picture should be next to the definition 'reasonable doubt,'" citing his alleged lies to Congress and previous guilty pleas to campaign finance violations, false statements to Congress, and tax evasion.

Conway, however, countered that a reasonable doubt requires a plausible alternative explanation for the events in question, and he argued that the jury would not believe Trump's explanation for sending money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

Conway dismissed Aidala's claims that Cohen was not a credible witness, pointing to Trump's own history of making false statements.

"As opposed to the defendant?" Conway responded with laughter. "The defendant’s credibility, unless he takes the stand, is not on trial."

Aidala retorted that the trial was "all about Michael Cohen" and his credibility, emphasizing that his history of lying would likely be used to discredit his testimony.

"They're going to destroy his credibility," Aidala asserted.

Conway challenged this claim, demanding that Aidala provide specific examples of Cohen's falsehoods that directly related to his current testimony.

Aidala maintained that Cohen's past legal issues and current conduct, including his use of TikTok to raise money while discussing the trial, undermined his credibility.

Conway dismissed Aidala's arguments, arguing that Cohen's testimony was consistent with other evidence and that the jury would ultimately decide whether or not to believe him.

The heated debate reflects the ongoing scrutiny of Michael Cohen's credibility as a key witness in the Trump trial. While his past legal troubles may cast doubt on his reliability, the prosecution and defense will ultimately present their cases to the jury, who will decide whether or not to accept Cohen's testimony as truthful.

The outcome of the trial will have significant implications for both Trump and Cohen, as well as for the broader understanding of credibility in high-profile cases.
