CNN's recent article on gender-inclusive phrases, such as "pregnant people" and "penis owners," has引发强烈反对,批评者指责该媒体试图抹杀女性的生物学现实。
CNN has sparked controversy with its recent publication of an article advocating for the use of gender-inclusive phrases such as "pregnant people" and "penis owners." The article, released in the network's health section online, has been met with widespread criticism from opponents who argue that it disregards the biological realities of sex and pregnancy.
The article cites "experts" who contend that using gender-inclusive terminology promotes inclusivity for individuals who identify outside of the traditional binary gender categories of male and female. Keygan Miller, director of public training at The Trevor Project, argues that "sex and gender are a bit of a spectrum" and that "we need to be doing a better job of educating people" about this.
Clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University Dr. Jack Drescher agrees, stating that gender-inclusive language is "the most inclusive, streamlined way to refer to everyone who...has certain anatomy or biological abilities."
However, critics vehemently disagree with this viewpoint. They argue that terms like "pregnant people" erase the unique experiences and realities of women, who are the only biological sex capable of carrying and birthing children. By using such language, they contend, CNN is attempting to deny the fundamental differences between men and women.
"Using vague terms that could potentially encompass everyone, including men, effectively erases the existence of the female sex," said one critic. "It is disingenuous and does nothing to advance the cause of true equality."
The article also draws attention to the use of neopronouns, which are alternative grammar that eliminates "gender markers." CNN's "guide to neopronouns" encourages readers to "use and respect" these alternative pronouns like any other common pronoun.
Critics find this approach to language confusing and unnecessary. They argue that it creates a new set of arbitrary rules that only serve to further divide society along gender lines.
"The constant evolution of language and the introduction of new terms can be confusing and alienating to many people," said another critic. "It is important to remember that language should serve the purpose of communication, not to create further division."
The debate over gender-inclusive terminology is likely to continue as society grapples with the complexities of gender identity and expression. However, it is essential to prioritize clear and accurate language that respects the realities of both biological sex and human diversity.
