The Coast Guard said it received a distress call around 9:30 p.m. Monday about a boat crash near the break wall at the mouth of the Connecticut River.

When Coast Guard crews arrived, they found the boat had crashed into the break wall and broken apart. Five people were found in the water and were rescued by the Coast Guard.
The five people who were rescued were transported to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown.
