Cole Hauser hints at the possibility of a spin-off series centered around his character, Rip Wheeler, and Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton, following the conclusion of "Yellowstone's" fifth season.
Cole Hauser has hinted at the possibility of a spin-off series focusing on his character, Rip Wheeler, and Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton from the popular Paramount+ show "Yellowstone." The actor shared his excitement about the prospect of continuing Rip and Beth's love story in a recent interview with Country Living.
"I know that there’s some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor’s ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself, and some of the other cast," Hauser said, referring to the show's creator, Taylor Sheridan. "I’m excited to see where he goes creatively with that. But right now, it’s just: Let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can."
Sheridan, known for his acclaimed Western dramas, has a track record of creating compelling spin-offs, as seen in the prequels "1883" and "1923." The announcement of a "Yellowstone" spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey, titled "2024," has further fueled speculation about the future of the franchise.
Hauser's character, Rip, has become a fan favorite over the course of "Yellowstone's" five seasons. His portrayal of a complex and enigmatic ranch hand has earned him widespread praise. The actor's own affinity for the Western lifestyle has contributed to the authenticity of his performance.
Hauser's initial surprise at the popularity of his character reflects the unexpected success of "Yellowstone." The show, which follows the Dutton family and their vast Montana ranch, has become a cultural phenomenon. Its realistic portrayal of Western life and its exploration of family dynamics have resonated with audiences.
The upcoming second installment of "Yellowstone's" fifth season will serve as the conclusion of the main storyline. However, the possibility of a spin-off series offers hope for fans eager to see more of Rip and Beth's journey.
Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, has also hinted at the potential for a continuation of her character's story. In an interview with Radio Times, she advised fans to "wait and see," while acknowledging discussions about the future of "Yellowstone."
Paramount+ has yet to officially announce a spin-off series for Rip and Beth. However, the positive reception to Hauser's comments and the success of "Yellowstone" make it a strong possibility. If greenlit, the spin-off would further expand the "Yellowstone" universe and provide fans with more of the compelling characters and dramatic storylines that have made the franchise so popular.
