"I have an eating disorder. I'm more scared of being fat than anything in the world, and that's not good. That's not normal," Evans admitted to Burke.
Evans explained that she has struggled with body image issues since she was a child. She described the fear and anxiety she experiences whenever she is "on stage and being judged."

"My record label, every time I had a baby, they would be like, ‘When's she gonna lose weight?’” said Evans, who is a mother of three. “So things like that would just get in my head."
Evans also shared that she has body dysmorphic disorder, a mental health condition that causes people to fixate on perceived flaws or defects in their appearance.

“I just wanted to respond, like, ‘How dare you?’” Evans said of a recent comment she read on her podcast about her appearance. “I haven't done anything to my face. I've had Botox."
Evans previously detailed her struggles with mental health in her 2020 memoir "Born to Fly." She revealed that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and claustrophobia stemming from being hit by a car when she was 8 years old.

Evans credits anti-anxiety medication with "saving her life." She said that it helped her to calm down and realize that she could get better.
"I still struggle," Evans said. "But I'm so grateful for every second of this life."
Evans's candidness about her struggles with mental health and body image has resonated with many fans. She has received messages of support and encouragement from people who have also struggled with similar issues.
By speaking out about her experiences, Evans hopes to help others who may be struggling in silence. She wants them to know that they are not alone and that there is help available.
In addition to her struggles with eating disorders and body dysmorphia, Evans has also experienced domestic violence. In 2017, her husband, retired NFL player Jay Barker, was arrested for domestic violence against her. The couple later reconciled and remain married today.
Evans is a role model for many people, both for her music and for her willingness to share her personal struggles. Her candor about mental health and body image issues has helped to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding these conditions.
