Country music star Craig Morgan may have found fame in the music industry, but his heart lies in serving his country. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Morgan shared that being part of the military is "more natural" to him than his successful music career.

Morgan served nearly a decade of active duty in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions before joining the Army Reserve. After a few years in the reserves, he decided to dedicate himself to music full-time. However, his passion for helping others continued to burn brightly. In 2017, he joined Exodus Road to rescue children from human trafficking in Thailand.

Driven by his desire to make a difference, Morgan re-enlisted in the Army Reserve at the age of 59. "That for me is more natural than the country music singer thing," he explained to Fox News Digital. "People often ask me how I transitioned from being in the United States Army for so long to the music industry, and I tell them I've been working on it. I'm still working on it."

While serving in the Army and Army Reserve, Morgan earned various certifications, including airborne, air assault, and rappel master. He has also been recognized with the Army's Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and the USO Merit Award.

Morgan believes that Memorial Day should be reserved to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. "I'm a veteran," he said. "You don't need to thank me on Memorial Day. Thank the folks that we lost in Panama and lost in Desert Storm and Desert Shield in Iraq and Afghanistan."

True to his character, Morgan's memoir, "God, Family, Country," encompasses his entire life journey, from his childhood to his time in the military, his rise to fame, and the tragic loss of his son Jerry in 2016. "The idea for me was to sum all of these things together, to show people that you can overcome adversities in your life, regardless of where it may be in your life," Morgan explained.

Despite his success in music, Morgan acknowledges that his military service is a crucial part of who he is. "I don't know how people exist without values," he said. "I think a lot of that is attributed to a lack of education... I've had that honor and that privilege, most of which I attribute to my time in service in the United States Army."

Currently on his global Redneck Yacht Club Tour, Morgan balances his love for music with his commitment to serve his country. "I didn't realize this when they did the paperback, they changed the cover," he said of the updated edition of his memoir. "It's my first book, so I didn't really know. But, I mean, honestly, this version is like — it's my life story."
