Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing a crucial role in safeguarding the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics from cybersecurity threats, particularly narrative attacks that spread misinformation and harm reputations. Blackbird.AI's Constellation platform utilizes AI to identify and analyze online narratives, providing organizations with critical information for decision-making.
The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are rapidly approaching, and cybersecurity remains a paramount concern. Recent years have witnessed an escalation in sophisticated cyber threats, necessitating the responsible deployment of AI to counter these attacks.
Blackbird.AI's Constellation is an AI-based narrative intelligence platform that efficiently detects narratives originating from disinformation campaigns. By analyzing, measuring risk, and adding context to these narratives, Constellation provides clarity for organizations facing critical decision-making.
Narrative attacks can have severe financial and reputational consequences, especially when fueled by misinformation. Constellation's Dashboard offers a real-time view of narrative attacks as they evolve and become harmful, enabling organizations to respond swiftly and effectively.
Utilizing natural language processing, image recognition, and meme analysis, Constellation monitors a vast range of platforms, including dark web, social media, news, and more, in over 25 languages. This comprehensive approach ensures that organizations can remain vigilant against cyber threats from various sources.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognizes the importance of AI in safeguarding the Olympic Games. IOC President Thomas Bach recently presented the IOC's AI plan, emphasizing the responsible use of AI in talent identification, personalized training, and improved judging fairness.
AI's potential in enhancing the Olympic experience extends beyond security. The IOC plans to leverage AI to protect athletes from online harassment and enhance the viewing experience for spectators. The IOC generates substantial revenue from the sale of broadcast rights, making it essential to ensure a seamless and engaging viewing experience.
Constellation's analysis focuses on June and July 2023, identifying high-risk online narratives that could pose a threat to France and the IOC. Viginum, the French government's operational arm for digital foreign interference, identified a foreign actor network engaged in widespread disinformation campaigns targeting France's ability to host the Olympics.
Viginum, established by President Emmanuel Macron in 2021, aims to neutralize destabilizing operations and prevent future occurrences. The office became operational in October 2021.
The Summer Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. AI will play a critical role in safeguarding the event from cybersecurity threats, particularly narrative attacks that could disrupt the Games and harm the reputation of the IOC and France.
