After a disastrous start to the 2024 campaign, Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen find their jobs hanging in the balance as locker room unrest threatens to derail the season.

The New York Giants' promising 2023 season has spiraled down into a nightmare, with the team now 0-2 and facing mounting pressure from both the media and within the locker room. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, once hailed as the saviors of the franchise, are now on the hot seat as the Giants' collapse deepens.

Daboll's tenure began with a promising 9-8 record, but the wheels have come off in spectacular fashion this year. The Giants have been outscored 66-26 in their first two games, with Daboll's stubborn play-calling and questionable decisions drawing criticism. Now, ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan reports that the locker room is beginning to turn against him.

"I've spoken to guys over the past few days - a bunch of guys, a handful of guys - and some of them, not all of them, said how it's starting to get shaky in there," Raanan said. "The confidence in Brian Daboll is hanging by a thread... These are things that [the players] talk about, that their trust in him is waning."

Raanan's report comes on the heels of rumors that wide receiver Jalin Hyatt requested a trade this summer due to dissatisfaction with his role in the offense. Hyatt has since denied the report, but the mere fact that it surfaced speaks to the growing discontent within the Giants' locker room.

Complicating matters for Daboll is the Giants' brutal schedule. They face the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, and Dallas Cowboys in their next three games, all of whom are considered potential playoff contenders. If the Giants fail to turn things around quickly, Daboll's seat will become even hotter.

Schoen, who was hired alongside Daboll, is also feeling the heat. The Giants' roster has been plagued by injuries, and their offensive line remains one of the worst in the NFL. Schoen has been criticized for his lackluster free agent signings and questionable draft picks.

The Giants' ownership has reportedly been patient with Daboll and Schoen, but their patience is wearing thin. Owner John Mara said after the Giants' loss to the Washington Commanders that he "knows what he wants to see" regarding the team's direction.

Sources close to the Giants say that Daboll and Schoen could be on the brink of losing their jobs if the team continues to struggle. The Giants' next three games will be crucial in determining their future. If they fail to show significant improvement, the axe could fall.
