Deborra-lee Furness Embraces "Year of Evolution" After Hugh Jackman Split

Deborra-lee Furness, ex-wife of Hugh Jackman, has shared her insights on the challenges and personal growth she has experienced since their separation.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Furness candidly discussed the difficulties and revelations she has faced during a year she described as her "year of evolution." The 68-year-old actress and the 55-year-old actor announced their separation after 27 years of marriage in September 2023.

Furness acknowledged the pain and uncertainty that accompanied the split, but she also emphasized the strength and resilience she has discovered within herself. "I'm strong and resilient," she told People. "And that I — we are all a constant evolution."

Reflecting on her journey, Furness shared that she has realized the importance of leaning on friends, particularly during challenging times. "I say this to all women — your girlfriends are a necessity in life," she stated.

The former couple's two children, 23-year-old Oscar and 18-year-old Ava, have been a source of support for their mother. Furness expressed her gratitude for their love and encouragement.

"I love playing women that are great role models for younger girls," she said. "Women are great leaders. … So, I like to play women who've got something to say."

Despite their separation, Furness and Jackman have remained on good terms. They reunited to celebrate his 55th birthday in October and have expressed their commitment to co-parenting their children.

In a joint statement released at the time of their separation, the couple stated: "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
