Rocker Dee Snider warns about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence but believes his role as a frontman remains secure.

Dee Snider, the legendary frontman of Twisted Sister, has expressed deep concerns about the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on the music industry and beyond. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Snider stated that while AI may not pose a significant threat to blue-collar workers, it could potentially automate many other jobs, including those in the creative sector.

Snider's remarks stem from his participation in a new "Biography" special on A&E, where he discusses his experiences as a frontman and the unique skills required for such a role. He believes that the human element of connecting with an audience is something AI cannot replicate.

"They can't replace physical jobs, you know, manual labor, which being a frontman is – rocking, connecting with the audience, whatever," Snider said. "It's not something that everybody knows. They know the songs, they know things about me, but they don't know that is the thing I do best. I don't think AI can replace that."

While Snider acknowledges that AI could potentially automate various aspects of the music industry, such as songwriting and recording, he remains confident that the role of the frontman will remain irreplaceable. He emphasizes that physical jobs and manual labor, which require hands-on involvement, are unlikely to be automated by AI.

"They can't do that," Snider said. "They don't have hands. Anyway, be that as it may, I'm glad I'll be dead before the excrement really hits the fan."

Snider's concerns about AI are echoed by other musicians in the industry. John Oates of Hall & Oates fame has also expressed worries about the potential of AI to replace songwriters and artists, raising the possibility of AI-generated David Bowie albums.

Country star Walker Hayes has also voiced concerns about AI's ability to surpass human creativity. He fears that a world where AI dominates the music space could lead to a loss of the human element that makes music so impactful.

Despite his concerns, Snider remains optimistic about the future of the music industry. He believes that AI can be a valuable tool for musicians, but ultimately, it cannot replace the human connection that is essential to live performances and the creation of meaningful art.

Snider's long and successful career in the music industry provides him with a unique perspective on the potential impact of AI. As the frontman of one of the most iconic rock bands, he has firsthand experience in the power of human connection and the importance of creative freedom.

While AI may continue to advance and automate various tasks, Snider believes that the role of the frontman will remain secure. The ability to inspire, entertain, and connect with an audience on a visceral level is a uniquely human trait that cannot be replaced by machines.
